Why it’s worth your time
IKEA Kreativ is a room-visualization tool inside IKEA's website and mobile app. Instead of placing a single floating product over a live camera view, it creates a persistent representation of the user's actual room. A wide-angle photograph or guided room scan establishes the walls, scale, perspective, and existing layout. The Eraser tool can then remove recognized furniture digitally, allowing the room to be cleared without physically moving anything. IKEA products can be placed into the resulting space, moved between positions, and compared in a setting that still looks recognizably like the user's home.
Furniture shopping usually asks buyers to imagine a lot while staring at a white product page. Kreativ puts the decision back in the room where the furniture must actually survive. A sofa that looks restrained online may turn into a fabric continent beside a small window. The tool catches that sort of mistake early. Its choices stay inside IKEA's catalog, erased objects sometimes leave odd visual scars, and anyone working with a narrow doorway should still own a tape measure. It is a shopping aid, not a diplomatic immunity card for bad dimensions.

I can photograph an ordinary, cluttered room, click out the existing furniture, and try a new arrangement without pretending I own a pristine empty box. It is far more convincing than floating one AR chair over the camera feed because the room itself stays recognizably mine. Of course the palette is IKEA's, not the entire history of furniture, but for answering 'will this actually work here?' it is wonderfully direct.”
