Why it’s worth your time
The Million Dollar Homepage is an advertising experiment created by Alex Tew in 2005. He divided a webpage into one million pixels and sold space to advertisers, who filled their blocks with images and links.
The resulting mosaic brings together businesses, personal projects, and promotions from an earlier internet. Today, it is a digital time capsule. Some destinations have disappeared, but the crowded canvas preserves the experiment's original character.

“The entire business idea fits in one sentence. Its lasting appeal is the strange collection of people and companies that decided a few pixels were worth buying.”
