Why it’s worth your time
Cartwheel is an AI motion platform for generating, capturing, reshaping, and exporting 3D character animation. A creator can describe an action in ordinary language, preview it on a character, adjust the motion, and carry the result into Blender, Maya, Unity, Unreal, or another animation workflow. Its newer performance-capture work extends beyond a single body, treating multi-character interaction, expressive faces and hands, and camera movement as parts of the same performance. The browser-based Canvas keeps motion previews and controls together, while an API supports teams building the capability into larger systems.
Cartwheel reframes prompting as direction. You are not asking for a picture of an athlete jumping; you are specifying reusable motion that can be examined, retargeted, layered, and corrected downstream. Weight, foot contact, balance, hand placement, and complex interactions can still need significant cleanup. The tool removes the blank timeline, not the need for animation judgement. That division of labour is also its strength: Cartwheel creates a useful draft while an animator decides what survives into the finished performance.

Watching a prompted action on a neutral character makes the strengths and mistakes easier to judge than they would be inside a polished AI video. The export path is the honest part: this is a starting layer for real animation work, not a claim that weight, contact, retargeting, and timing no longer matter.”
